The third-ranked Columbia College softball team put up another impressive effort in the NAIA Tournament at the Antimi Sports Complex, topping 21st-ranked and third-seeded Grand View 9-0 on Tuesday and advancing into the prime position in opening-round bracket play.
Adding that win to the 8-0 victory over University of the Cumberlands on Monday, the top-seeded Cougars (45-5) now on Wednesday will have two opportunities for the one victory against 18th-ranked and second-seeded Mobile they need to advance to the 10-team NAIA Softball World Series set for May 26-June 1 in Clermont, Florida.
Lauren McCroskie (22-1) came through with her sixth complete-game shutout of the season for Columbia, striking out eight while allowing just four hits.
