Missouri freshman T.J. Sikkema was named to the 2017 All-Freshman team, the league announced Monday. The left-handed pitcher earned a spot on the team as a relief pitcher after leading the SEC in opponent batting average (.169), hits per nine innings (5.28) and WHIP (0.80) during the 2017 season while ranking fifth in ERA (2.28) and wins (8-1).
Sikkema, who started as a reliever before working his way into the starting rotation during the final two weeks of the season, is the first Missouri player to be named to the All-Freshman team since Tanner Houck and Trey Harris in 2015.
