On Saturday, Penn State will make a surprise appearance in the Big Ten Championship game against Oregon, a team that it hasn’t played since Jan. 2, 1995.
Back on that day, Penn State’s first apperance in the Rose Bowl as a member of the Big Ten conference, it was Oregon who was the surprise participant.
That game - and its surprise unsung heroes - are the focus of today’s Lions Tale.
For most here, the 1994 Penn State football team is unforgettable and the first offensive play from scrimmage on that sunny Pasadena afternoon is a moment forever forged in the minds of Lion fans: Ki-Jana Carter taking a toss from Kerry Collins, nearly losing his balance, bouncing off a tackle and then racing off to a sea of Penn State fans behind the endzone and giving Penn State the early lead.
