BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- A judge has agreed to let the charity founded by convicted former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky dissolve.
The Centre Daily Times reports that a Centre County judge granted The Second Mile organization's request after a hearing Thursday.
The charity's attorney said Sandusky's conviction made it nearly impossible for the charity he founded in 1977 to continue. The charity's stated purpose was helping disadvantaged children, but Sandusky is serving decades in prison after he was convicted of molesting several boys, including some he met through the charity.
The ruling formalizes the board's decision in July to close the charity.
