LARAMIE — When Wyoming began the 2017 season at Iowa, Josh Allen didn't do much running. He had eight rushes in the 24-3 loss and three of those were sacks. He finished the game with minus-10 rushing yards to his name.
Maybe it was the Big Ten defense opposite Allen, but Wyoming appeared hesitant to use him as a running threat, and, regardless the motivation, it made some sense. For one, Allen was, and still is, expected to be selected in the upcoming NFL Draft. But even in the present, Wyoming can't afford to lose Allen for the sake of their season, especially with fewer established skill players surrounding him than a year ago.
