Guard Jayla Oden struggled in the Lady Lions’ season opener Monday night, fighting through early foul trouble and finishing with zero points. Thursday night was a different story.
The senior’s 12-point performance on 4-6 shooting and 2-3 from three-point land supported Penn State in a dominant 89-57 victory against Canisius.
Oden, one of four returning players to the roster, has a chance to make a major jump as a scorer and playmaker in her senior season. In 2023, the Baltimore native averaged 5.6 points, playing in all 35 games. Coach Carolyn Kieger believes that Oden will make the jump this season.
