As soon as Jalen Penrose made contact with his first set of the season, he confirmed coach Mark Pavlik’s decision to move him from opposite to middle blocker.
He drilled the ball into the floor, just feet past the attack line, while the Mount Olive defenders and the rest of his own Penn State team looked on.
“I don’t know if I’ve seen someone hit that hard in a while,” starting opposite Calvin Mende said.
Penrose has been one of the fastest swinging hitters on the team for years, clocking in at 75 miles per hour one practice when the Nittany Lions were measuring serving speeds.
