Houck drafted 24th overall in MLB Draft by Boston

Missouri pitcher Tanner Houck was drafted 24th overall by the Boston Red Sox Monday in Major League Baseball's First Year Player Draft.

Houck is the first Missouri player to be drafted in the first round since Kyle Gibson was taken with the 22nd selection by Minnesota in 2009.

The 6-foot-5 junior was dominant throughout his time at Missouri, with a career ERA of 3.26 and an opponent batting average of .220. His 292 career strikeouts were second most all-time for a three-year player at Missouri, behind Gibson’s 304.
