HBO released its first trailer Friday on the upcoming film “Paterno,” which stars Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino playing the role of Joe Paterno during the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.
The 48-second trailer comes a week after HBO announced the movie would be released on its network in the spring. No specific release date has yet been given.
The trailer opens with Pacino staring into the distance while audio in the background includes fans chanting “Joe Pa-ter-no” while rhythmically clapping. Quick cuts of football practice, cheering crowds and riots ensue.
The only words the Paterno-playing Pacino utters during the trailer is, “I love you!
