As the old saying goes: “All good things must come to an end.” An extraordinary run through The Basketball Tournament by the Happy Valley Hoopers ended tonight at the hands of the Eberlin Drive, 85-71, in what was a tale of two halves. The first half saw the Happy Valley Hoopers get off to a torrid start by going on a 17-0 run, thanks to some red-hot three-point shooting (HVH shot 8-for-11 from downtown in the first half), allowing them to balloon their lead into double figures and take a 48-38 lead into halftime.
The beginning of the second half saw HVH push their lead up to 13 before Eberlin began their epic turnaround, going on a 23-6 run through most of the third quarter as a result of heating up from the floor, while the tired legs of a short-handed HVH team (no Izaiah Brockington or Josh Reaves forced them to stick with a seven-man rotation) began to show up, as shots that were falling with ease for HVH in the first half began to draw iron.
