Group of Penn State football lettermen ask university to put Joe Paterno statue back up and apologize to Sue Paterno; why now?

Another group of people connected to Penn State have asked that the Joe Paterno statue be restored outside of Beaver Stadium.

That was just one of the requests a group of over 200 Lions' football lettermen made in a letter sent to Penn State president Eric Barron and members of the university's Board of Trustees, according to former Penn State tight end and punter Brian Masella, the group's spokesmen.

Beside asking them to return Paterno's statue and a player's wall that stood behind it, the group, which features players that played at Penn State over the last five decades, asked that the school also "make a long overdue apology to Sue Paterno for the way in which Paterno's legacy has been unfairly tarnished in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky saga.
