In a dynamic offensive display Penn State defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 5-1 on Sunday and moved the Nittany Lions one step closer to the Big Ten Championship.
In a tense quarterfinal where a spot in the semifinals was up for grabs, the Nittany Lions took control of the game early on and stayed in control, outshooting Iowa 24-7.
Offense wasn't the only factor that pushed Penn State to the next round, though.
It was a strong defensive first half for the Nittany Lions as well, who scored first with a goal from Katie Dembrowski.
The second half yielded a pestering attack that kept Iowa on its heels as Gini Bramley scored two out of the four goals for the half.
