This past weekend was a recipe for disaster for Penn State.
Heading to Minnesota after a three-week break and without Evan Barratt and Aarne Talvitie, who were representing the United States and Finland respectively at the World Junior Championships, getting anything out of the weekend would be a plus for the Nittany Lions.
Even against a struggling Gopher team, getting a win would be huge, and that’s exactly what happened, as the Nittany Lions put together a strong performance on Friday night to earn a 4-2 victory.
Brandon Biro, Kevin Kerr, Denis Smirnov and Alex Limoges all netted goals in the win, showcasing a balanced attack without two of their stars.
