Entering into the elimination stage of women’s soccer, Germany and Canada faced off in the quarterfinals.
After a scoreless regular time and extra time, Team Germany knocked out Team Canada in a penalty shoot-out 4-2 and will take on Team U.S in the semifinals.
Former Nittany Lion, Laura Freigang was with Germany as a substitute. The Midfielder played for Penn State during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
