Garrett Sickels didn't consult NFL Draft Advisory board before leaving Penn State, and doesn't regret it

STATE COLLEGE -- Former Penn State defensive end Garrett Sickels wanted his stay in school or leave for the NFL early decision to be his and his alone, so the defensive end from New Jersey didn't consult with his family, friends, or even the NFL Draft Advisory Board before announcing he'd leave the school after his junior year.

In fact, he didn't think about the decision long before he made it, either.

Sickels said on Thursday at Penn State's Pro Day event here at Holuba Hall that he waited until after he and the Lions lost to USC in the Rose Bowl to begin pondering his future, and it was then that he took just a day or two to decide that leaving PSU early, despite having eligibility left, was the right decision for him.
