Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, and that could certainly be the case tonight for the Nittany Lions (12-2, 2-1) as they defeated Northwestern (10-4, 1-2) 84-80.
What exactly was “lucky” for Penn State? Well, with under 10 seconds remaining in the game and holding an 82-80 lead, Northwestern had the ball for the chance to tie or take the lead. Guard Ty Berry missed a three pointer, which was rebounded by guard Jalen Leach who tried to put it right back up. As he did, D’Marco Dunn blocked his shot off the backboard, right into the waiting arms of Northwestern big man Matthew Nicholson who put it back in to tie the game.
