Former Penn State All-American Michael Mauti will return to New Orleans after he re-signed with the Saints on a one-year contract, NOLA.com reported Monday.
Mauti has spent the last two years with the Saints. The fifth-year player had last season cut short by ulcerative colitis, which led to extensive surgery this offseason, including the removal of Mauti's large intestine and rectum. NOLA.com extensively detailed his offseason comeback.
Mauti had drawn significant interest from the Houston Texans and Bill O'Brien, Mauti's coach at Penn State in 2012. Mauti earned All-American honors from ESPN and All-Big Ten honors that season.
