After making a career-high 75 tackles in 2016, former Penn State safety Malik Golden could not have entered the NFL Draft process expecting to hear his name called during the seven-round selection process, and it wasn't.
As expected, though, the reliable onetime Lion is still going to get a chance to crack a NFL roster.
Calling it "The best birthday present I could ask for," Golden announced on social media late Saturday night that he is heading to the San Francisco 49ers. It was not immediately clear whether it was for a tryout in a minicamp or if he has plans to sign with the NFC West franchise, and the details will likely remain murky until the team announces any signings and/or invites later tonight or early Sunday.
