Cumberland "Cum" Posey Jr. was elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, per an announcement Monday from Springfield, Massachusetts.
Posey played for Penn State's freshman basketball team from 1909-1910 and for the varsity team in 1910 and 1911. He also played freshman baseball in 1910.
Posey is widely regarded as the best African-American basketball player of his time. He was one of 16 nominees to be elected directly by the Early African American Pioneers Committee.
Posey's lifetime in sports stretches far beyond his time at Penn State, where he was enrolled for just two years.
