Former Penn State field hockey and women’s lacrosse head coach, Gillian Rattray, died on Thursday at age 83.
Rattray coached the Penn State field hockey team from 1974-86. She led her squad to AIAQ Championships in 1980 and 1981 while accumulating a record of 176-49-21 throughout her 13 seasons.
She later went on to lead the NIttany Lions to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 1982-1986, two of which resulted in NCAA semifinal appearances. Her five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances were the first of 19 straight from 1982-2000 for the Nittany Lions.
Rattray also saw much success with the women’s lacrosse team from 1974-1985.
