Missouri and South Carolina appeared almost identical leading into this past Saturday's game. But, when both teams walked off Faurot Field for the final time, it was the Gamecocks who identified themselves as a team worthy of the spotlight.
The Tigers, on the other hand, looked to be having an identity crisis.
The performance was a near flip from their Week 1 win over Missouri State. Instead of the offense roaring for 72 points, the Tigers scored only 13. Meanwhile, Missouri's defense looked relatively sound in limiting South Carolina to 24 points — including seven when the unit was forced to defend from its own 20-yard line.
