The women’s volleyball team advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third straight season under coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. Penn State swept Delaware State in the first round before defeating UNC 3-1 in round 2.
The Lions won the opening set against Delaware 25-4, one of the most lopsided sets in Penn State’s NCAA tournament history. Camryn Hannah led the team with 11 kills and Jess Mruzik added 10 more. As a team, Penn State limited the Hornets to just .080 hitting percentage in the entire match. The second and third sets were more competitive, with PSU winning 25-18 and 25-20, but it was nonetheless an easy opening round match for the Lions.
