The women’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 match to Virginia last Thursday. Penn State outplayed the Cavaliers for the majority of the game but were bitten by two second-half mistakes. Kaitlyn MacBean scored the only goal of the game for the Nittany Lions in the first half. Virginia countered in the second half with a quick transition goal after a questionable no-penalty call at Penn State’s end. The Cavaliers soon took the lead on a penalty shot. Penn State had three great chances to tie up the game in the closing minutes but fell just short.
