In 20 years as a high school football coach at Brighton, Ryan Bullet has crossed the field at the end of a game to shake hands on hundreds of occasions.

A few years ago — right after the “good game” exchange — opposing coaches started asking Bullet a question: “Hey, who was that No. 21? I want your middle linebacker. That kid is as tough as they come.”

Those coaches were talking about Brayden El-Bakri.

BYU’s fullback/special teams ace made the play of the game in last week’s win against San Jose State, setting the tone with a monster hit and fumble recovery on kickoff coverage in the first quarter that helped the Cougars to a 14-0 lead.
