On paper, Nick Lee was supposed to win on Sunday.
Lee, who entered the day ranked No. 4 in the nation at 141 and riding a 16-match winning streak, took on unranked Tristan Moran of Wisconsin.
Lee picked up an All-American nod last year, led Penn State in wins and has lost just once at Rec Hall since entering the starting lineup midway through last season — a combination that should have made him the odds on favorite against Moran.
However, it was ultimately Moran who came out on top by a 12-10 decision in the second sudden victory period in what was the biggest test Lee's faced this season en route to his first loss.
