Penn State’s defense just couldn’t get stops consistently on Saturday.
While the offense was keeping up its end of the bargain and scored 16 goals, Villanova’s offense was blowing shots past goalies Colby Kneese and Will Schreiner with regularity. At the end of it all, the Wildcats won 17-16 with the game winning goal coming on their first possession of overtime.
In the midst of the struggles, coach Jeff Tambroni decided to put Schreiner in the cage —a move that wasn’t made much after Kneese took over the starting job the first month of last season.
“Colby has had a tough week,” Tambroni said following the game.
