After a brutal single-game loss to Pitt on Tuesday, Penn State softball had a chance to right the ship against Iowa. The task at hand was daunting, as the Hawkeyes were riding the momentum of three wins in their last four games, featuring a sweep over Maryland last weekend.
The Nittany Lions weren’t up to the task, as the offense was stuffed by Iowa’s pitching, resulting in a low-scoring 2-1 loss.
Iowa opted to place Jalen Adams on the mound to start Game 1, flexing a team-low 2.19 ERA. Through 28 appearances on the season, the junior has allowed 120 hits and 60 runs while striking out 104 batters.
