On a team full of champions, Penn State wrestling’s Bo Nickal stood out from the rest last weekend as he paved the way for the Nittany Lions’ seventh team title in eight seasons.
At the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, Nickal took the mat with the opportunity to clinch the NCAA title for Penn State with a victory against Ohio State’s Myles Martin at 184 pounds.
Nickal and Martin entered the match very familiar with each other, having met eight times prior in the last three seasons. Their ninth matchup had plenty of significance, as a win by Martin would’ve given the Buckeyes the national championship, since Ohio State’s Kyle Snyder was victorious at 285 pounds.
