IOWA CITY – Akrum Wadley admits he didn’t know much about the football rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State before he joined the Hawkeye program in the fall of 2013.
His introduction came on the practice field prior to Iowa’s third game of the season that year, delivered by Anthony Hitchens.
“It was the start of Iowa State week and I was running on the scout team and ‘Hitch’ came up and put one of the biggest hits on me that I’ve ever taken,’’ Wadley said Tuesday. “It was something I’ll never forget. I knew that moment how much this game meant to people around here.
