HARRISBURG -- A panel of judges today ordered Pennsylvania to reinstate the state pension of convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky.
Writing for the Commonwealth Court, President Judge Dan Pellegrini said the record does not show that Sandusky was an employee of Penn State University at the time his crimes were committed.
The court says the State Employees' Retirement System had found that Sandusky was an employee of Penn State even though he had not been on its payroll since 1999, a finding that resulted in the forfeiture of his pension for his 2012 criminal convictions.
A 1978 state law provides for the forfeiture of pensions for public employees who commit certain crimes related to their work.
