Penn State basketball (8-2, 1-1) couldn’t make it 2-0 to start the Big Ten slate, as it fell on the road at Rutgers (6-4, 1-1) 80-76 on Tuesday night.
Through the first 10 minutes of the game, things remained close with the Scarlet Knights clinging to a 17-15 lead. Rutgers though, behind a strong home crowd, went on a 12-2 run to really take control of the game after the first under-12 minute timeout and saw their lead grow to 29-17. While Penn State attempted to and got the deficit to single digits multiple times before the half, the Scarlet Knights always had an answer behind its star-studded freshman duo of Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, as Rutgers went into the half with a 48-33 advantage.
