On March 4, I wrote an article with fellow women’s basketball reporter Noah Aberegg in which I advocated for coach Carolyn Kieger to stay for recruitment reasons. However, as the offseason has progressed, that line of reasoning has lost its credibility.
Gracie Merkle, Alli Campbell, Grace Hall and Talayah Walker have already entered the transfer portal, with the possibility of more to come.
Merkle was the Lady Lions' bright spot last year. The 6-foot-6 center averaged 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds, single-handedly keeping the team in games throughout the campaign.
Campbell was a Swiss army knife, providing wherever Kieger needed in the box score, but battled injuries throughout her Penn State career.
