Penn State entered the 2025 season with high expectations after earning a spot in an NCAA regional for the first time since 2011. Due to last season’s success, the Nittany Lions earned a spot in D1 Softball’s preseason top-25.
The blue and white returned many key players from last year's squad, including star pitcher Bridget Nemeth. Despite a veteran roster, Penn State lost four of its first five games and boasts a 14-16 record — but almost all of this has occurred without Nemeth in the circle.
The sophomore’s lone appearance came on Feb. 7 against Texas Tech, where she faced just four batters before exiting.
