Former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg had his fair share of struggles this preseason and was listed as the New York Jets No. 3 quarterback on an unofficial depth chart released by the team earlier this week.
But when the Jets kick off the season at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon, Hackenberg will be one play away from making his NFL debut. The Jets announced he'll back up Josh McCown against the Bills with Bryce Petty inactive.
Hackenberg completed 42 of 74 passes (56.8 percent) for 372 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in four preseason games.
