Former walk-on Carl Nassib -- who never started a game in high school -- recorded a sack in the fourth quarter against No. 21 Northwestern on Saturday to break Penn State's long-standing single-season sacks record.
With his sack on Saturday, the redshirt senior now has 15.5 sacks on the season through 10 games and leads the nation in sacks and tackles-for-loss (19.5).
Nassib drilled Northwestern QB Zack Oliver for an 8-yard loss early in the fourth quarter for the record-breaker.
Linebacker Larry Kubin held Penn State's previous sacks record with 15 in 1979, and defensive end Michael Haynes tied the mark in 2002.
