BYU football has talked for the entire season about how success depended on the running game.
It’s one reason why the Cougars haven’t put up any even remotely decent passing numbers, particularly at a university that is known for having a high-flying aerial attack.
To get an idea of how bad it has been, during BYU’s 33-17 loss at East Carolina, the Cougars finally went over 200 yards passing — finishing with 317 yards through the air.
It was the first time BYU reached that mark since the win over Southern Utah in 2016.
Leading the way was Cougar sophomore receiver Aleva Hifo, who made some good plays from the slot position.
