Bridget Nemeth is Penn State softball’s next great pitcher | Column

Who will enter the circle?

Penn State had to answer this question when both Bailey Parshall and Kylee Lingenfelter graduated last year — two of the team’s best pitchers.

Nicknamed “Queen B”, Parshall set Penn State’s career strikeout record at 783, garnering an average of 156.6 per season. That’s a lot.

After losing its star player, any team would suffer the next season, or so you would think.

Instead, Parshall’s successor, Bridget Nemeth, took the Big Ten by storm in her true freshman season.

Nemeth has something that Parshall didn’t have going into Penn State, which was playing both pitcher and infielder positions.
