Penn State’s contest on Sunday was more than just another game, as the Lady Lions hosted Wisconsin for their 19th annual “Pink Zone” game.
Despite a 75-68 loss, the blue and white played for a bigger cause: Celebrating those who have battled and overcame cancer.
“This is bigger than basketball, this is bigger than us, this is bigger than Penn State. This is about a community that wants to give back,” coach Carolyn Kieger said. “There’s so many things that the Pink Zone does that I think the community should celebrate.”
The Bryce Jordan Center was painted pink as fans gathered in their pink apparel and on each seat sat a special pink shaker for fans to cheer on the Lady Lions.
