Big Ten Power Rankings: A Mess In The Middle

Rankings reflect games played through Monday, January 16.

As we approach the midway point in Big Ten season, two things are certain:

Purdue reminded everybody why they were ranked No. 1 in the country to begin with, judging from the way they bounced back after the home upset loss to Rutgers with a pair of road wins at Ohio State and Penn State. Speaking of Penn State, I’m bumping them down to 9th and putting Maryland ahead of them in 8th, due the Terps’ impressive home win over OSU. Iowa pulls themselves out of the bottom four with their impressive road upset at Rutgers, while Indiana drops towards the bottom with only Nebraska and Minnesota below them.
