Penn State’s dominance in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge continued on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions (5-4) defeated Virginia Tech 7-1, earning their second win against the Hokies in as many days.
Rebecca Ziegler got the Nittany Lions started on the right foot in the top of the second inning, driving in two runs with a double down the left field line.
The Hokies (5-3) responded in the bottom of the frame with an Emma Strough RBI triple, cutting their deficit to 2-1.
From there, though, it was all Penn State.
Mia Monopoli drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Ziegler added to the lead with her second 2-RBI double of the day, scoring Kristina Brackpool and Sam Shannahan, and giving the Nittany Lions a 5-1 lead.
