Former University of Wyoming wide receiver Tanner Gentry was among the surprise cuts as NFL teams made roster cuts Saturday.
Gentry was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Bears after the NFL Draft.
According to most reports, Gentry had been one of the Bears' best receivers during the preseason. Gentry is expected to remain with the team on the practice squad.
Gentry finished with more than 1,300 yards receiving and 14 touchdown receptions last season for the Cowboys.
