PHILADELPHIA -- By signing with the Eagles as a third-string quarterback this offseason, Matt McGloin returned to his home state and moved closer to the university he feels so passionately about.
And many fans of Penn State football have a similar strong admiration for McGloin.
McGloin, who joined the Lions as a walk-on, was the team's starting quarterback in 2011 when the school fired iconic coach Joe Paterno after child sex abuse allegations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky became public. Riots broke out in State College, national media descended upon the city and the NCAA leveled crippling sanctions on the team.
