It was an afternoon filled with surprises in Happy Valley.
Shortly before kickoff, it became known that Penn State would be moving on to the Big Ten Championship Game with a win over Maryland following Ohio State’s stunning loss to Michigan. Even the most die-hard Nittany Lions fans (myself included) seemed to rule out this possibilty, considering the Buckeyes would basically need to use a game plan specifically designed to drop its fourth straight to the Wolverines. Yet, somehow that happened as Ohio State’s Big Ten title hopes slipped away in front of its home crowd in one of the most baffling losses ever seen in their storied rivalry.
