When Penn State's starting defense steps onto the field for the first time on Sept. 2 against Akron, Christian Campbell will not be making his first career start.
He will be labeled as one of two first-team corners for the first time in his career, though.
It's the start of a new chapter in a journey nearing its end for the 6-foot-1, 194-pound senior from Phenix City, Ala., who committed to James Franklin and his program sight unseen just a few days before National Signing Day back in the recruiting Class of 2014.
One must wonder if Campbell pondered if things would actually work out at a school he did not officially visit until the Blue-White game later that April once he was already locked into a binding agreement to go it, but he says he did not worry about it too much.
