Aarne Talvitie Wins World Junior Gold, Evan Barratt Takes Silver

For the first time in tournament history, Penn State was represented at the World Junior Championship.

Following Team Finland's thrilling 3-2 win over Team USA, both Nittany Lions who made the trip to British Columbia for the 2019 tournament will return to State College with hardware around their necks.

Despite suffering a leg injury during the gold medal game, Finnish captain Aarne Talvitie helped guide his nation to its fifth gold medal. Talvitie’s victory came at the expense of Barratt’s defeat, as the Americans settled for silver.

Penn State’s Director of Hockey Operations Alex Dawes also earned a silver medal for Team USA as a video coach.
