A new era of collegiate athletics: Implications of NCAA roster limits on Penn State men’s volleyball

When the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 1, 2025, the collegiate men’s volleyball landscape will drastically change.

The House v. NCAA settlement’s new roster limit for Division I men’s volleyball will set an 18-player roster limit where every player is scholarship-eligible, creating an interesting new era of collegiate volleyball.

Teams will have the opportunity to use an all-in mindset toward competing for championships. While most teams won’t utilize all 18 full scholarships, Penn State coach Mark Pavlik understands the “bold step” programs can take following the settlement.
