No. 1 Penn State is one of the hottest teams in the country. The squad is at the top of the rankings and remains undefeated, keeping its perfect record alive with a victory over Maryland on Sunday, 35-10.
Mitchell Mesenbrink has created a name for himself as one of the best wrestlers in the country in a short amount of time.
The 165-pounder finished second at the NCAA national championships last season after a narrow 9-8 loss to Iowa State’s David Carr. With Carr out of eligibility, Mesenbrink has become the favorite at 165.
“What our coaches preach, just keep getting better, and I think that’s what makes it fun,” Mesenbrink said.
