2 Former Penn Staters qualify for men's gymnastics Olympic finals

Former Penn State athletes Stephen Nedoroscik and Sam Zakutney both qualified for at least one modality in the gymnastics finals. Canada’s Zakutney will fight for a podium in the team finals at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Meanwhile, apart from qualifying for the team finals, USA’s Nedoroscik qualified for the pommel horse modality at 11:16 a.m. Saturday..

Nedoroscik had an impressive run on the modality. He was second in the competition achieving a punctuation of 15.200, the same punctuation as Irish two-time world champion Rhys McClenaghan who got first place because of the 100 point advantage on execution.
