Your Penn State football recruiting news update for September 19th:
The Penn State Nittany Lions are back in the mix for three-star Mechanicsville (VA) cornerback/safety and South Carolina Gamecocks commit JJ Givens, per a 247Sports report posted on Friday.
“Nothing set in stone yet, but Ole Miss is probably going to be one of my other visits later in the fall the weekend they play Mississippi State,” he said. “Other than that I am still pondering. I am thinking Penn State, maybe Clemson, maybe Louisville.”
Penn State and head coach James Franklin will have to do some creative recruiting to secure Givens' pledge, however. Right now, Clemson and Arizona State are leading the pack when it comes to a potential flip.
“Clemson is still recruiting me hard with the in-state rivalry,” he said. “I love their whole school and their whole coaching staff. I still talk to Penn State a good bit too. If Miami were to offer they would probably get an official visit. I would say Arizona State and Clemson are fighting hard for that number two spot.”
Givens is currently rated as the #52 safety in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
