He's got all the tools to be college football's end-of-the-decade superstar, and you probably don't know his name yet. Penn State's coaches know it, however, and they're looking to go all-in to sign him to their Class of 2017 ledger. Who is this "he" we speak of? Scroll down to #1 on our list of seven top recruits Penn State Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin is targeting.
7. 4-Star ATH Devon Hunter
A fantastic playmaker on both sides of the ball, Hunter is a natural free safety who can also make waves on offensive (WR, H-Back) and special teams.
6. 4-Star APB Anthony McFarland Jr.
McFarland has afterburners to spare, outdistancing run defenders by burning rubber around the edge. He's the type of athletic impact back than can change an offense.
5. 4-Star APB D'Andre Swift
Swift has a little more heft than the aforementioned McFarland and a lower center of gravity as a ball carrier. Once he gets rolling, it takes discipline on tackling angles to slow him down.
4. 5-Star OT Isaiah Wilson
Wilson is a beast at 6'7", 322 pounds, and clocks in as a consensus top-five offensive tackle in the nation. He could vault up the recruiting analysts' charts if he continues to turn weight into pure muscle and polishes himself as a blocker.
3. 5-Star WDE Joshua Kaindoh
Kaindoh's 237 pounds are wielded with force and range on his 6'6" frame, as he swims through tackles and uses his long arms/legs to wreak havoc. He's an edge rusher with tremendous upside.
2. 5-Star WR Trevon Grimes
Grimes has more length than the "he" at #1, but he's still in need of some bulking up at 6'3", 180 pounds. Still, he's a natural playmaker who routinely takes the top off opposing secondaries.
1. 5-Star WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
Judge for yourself.
Peoples-Jones is hailed by many as the best pure athlete in the Class of 2017, blending pure speed and undeniable explosiveness as a playmaker. Believe the hype -- the #1 overall wide receiver in the class has superstar written all over him.
